6 Month Castor Oil Challenge

Don't wait till your hair gets like this before you act. ACT NOW!!

Love, love, love your hair! Loving it will make you take better care of it. Any reason why you shouldn’t? Patience is key when it comes to growing our hair longer because of the fragile nature of kinky hair. I started out by challenging myself to stop some bad hair care practices.

I stopped using the small blue tail comb to comb through my hair! I bought myself the biggest comb I could find. I went on to leaving more than 4 weeks between relaxers and relaxing new growth only. Then I continued to protective styles where I combed my hair only twice or thrice a week or got braids. I stopped straightening my hair for months except once recently to straighten my 3 month new growth. I bought better hair products....a little difficult if you are on a budget but I estimated that since I did my hair at home since I embarked on this journey, it comes to almost the same since I don’t have to pay for salon services unless for braids and relaxer services.

All the above have help to retain more length and thickness but some more will do....lol!! I have been using castor oil in my hair but don’t really have it as a staple in my regimen. Castor has germicidal, insecticidal and fungicidal properties, and cleans the scalp to help protect it and hair from infections which cause hair loss thereby speeding hair growth. It nourishes the hair and prevents the scalp from drying out as it is a humectant. It is believed to thicken hair within 3 to 6 months of its use.

Here comes a 6 month challenge for all who want thick gorgeous hair!!

 Begins: 1st February, 2013                       Ends: 1st August, 2013

  8. I will be using the 100% pure castor oil. I actually have a bottle now. Since my scalp itches anytime I use the castor oil, I mix it with some coconut oil before applying to my scalp.

    1. Great to know you will give this a try...I was neck length not too long ago. You will definitely grow your hair and edges long with time. Just be consistent, reduce the number of times you relax per year, don't comb hair roughly and protect your ends. You will do great!

Thanks for the useful information. Quick question; After applying the castor ooil at night do you wash it out the following day? or can you leave it in?
