Big Chopped!! Relaxed to Texlaxed!

And............ I'm just so excited I can't believe myself. I just lost a lot of length but I mostly feel so liberated and so back to the "feel good" factor that came with this hair journey in the beginning...No more do I feel like hair days are going to be work days. Honestly, that's just how this whole neglecting my hair started. It was real work with handling the 3 textures and I realised that now after my wash day after cutting my hair off. 

And surprisingly, that huge chunk in the crown that is almost completely natural, I seem to be giving much more tender loving care. Is it because it is short and I want it to grow out faster or because it is natural and I'm loving it? Hmmmmmmm, confused myself. 

Maybe I'm jumping too fast now...let's see how the next wash days will leave me feeling. Want to see how I cut it all off? Check my video below.

3 Year Hairniversary!!

Yaaaaay.....and I'm glad I started! After 3 years, I'm all smiley cos the whole journey has been worth it. I've not only grown longer and thicker hair, but I've made some awesome friends and started a business alongside. I dream of bigger and better things, all because of my hair journey. 

I texlaxed a few days ago and as usual had a lot of texture left in ...a little more than I wanted but there will be another relaxer day in the future and hopefully, I can stretch it out more. My focus has changed and I am more keen on thickness than growth; though having both will be awesome. Hheheehehhehe....makes me smile too wide each time I dream of thick, long, fabulous texlaxed tresses. 

It has been such an awesome hair journey. I've had my share of setbacks and challenges...I still have a lot of relaxed hair to get rid of as I began texlaxing last year and absolutely intend to be fully texlaxed by the end of my 4th year on my HHJ. 

I've learnt more each day as my hair gets longer to keep it in low to no manipulation styles to reduce breakage. I've discovered amazing products such as T444Z Hair Food, Manetabolism Vitamins, Groganics range of products and Vitamins, Afroriri range of products, Vitale and ORS range of products that I love and still use whenever I have the opportunity, just to mention a few; that grow, strengthen and maintain my strands and keep them healthy looking. 

To all ladies growing their hair along with me, Never Give Up!! And to you my awesome readers, each time I look at my pages views, I am so encouraged to keep going despite the frustrations because I have your support. Hair Musings: Braids Out; What Next?

I took my braids out over the weekend and I was a minute away from relaxing but not having a relaxer creme at home, I put my hair in twists .....and have decided to keep them in till I go back to work. 

I don't really have anywhere special to go to and I might even go to work in these twists on Monday......hahahhahhhahaha......talk about putting my hair first! 

Because the braids were large, most of the knots came off easily without even needing a detangler. Some however were so tight, I had to use a detangler. I run out of VO5 conditioner too so I started detangling with Mane n Tail Detangler I won a few months ago...but I realised though it had a lot of slip, it was not meant for hard core detangling sessions needed after braid removal. I grabbed my old bottle of Hawaiian silky 14-in-1 and poured in a little water. I shook the bottle so hard and long and soon enough, I had some product in my bottle lid. I got almost 30ml of the product and used it to detangle the very tight knots in the back and the front around the edges. It just kind of melts the knots away. This product still awes me pleasantly. 

I had thick growth underneath and detangling was no joke. I lost a lot more hair this time around because I lost patience along the way and was so tired I just put on my sleep cap and slept.....without detangling after washing my hair. Next morning, my roots had clamped together tightly and I had to detangle again all over. 

I had to detangle small sections at a time, and I was thinking to make them small so the hairdressser won't need to section again if I went to the salon to get a retouch. But I put the sections in twists and by the time I was done, it looked OK so I've decided to keep the twists in. 

  

So I just pulled on my ends to see how much length I have retained and I am just so happy. Thanks to Groganics Vitamins! I've got my proof that 2 pills a day will give up to 1 inch of growth within a month. Thick, thick growth!

Looks like I am past BSL already! I just can't wait to see what my length will be at the middle of the year. I don't look so far from waist length right now and if I do things right, I should be waist length within a year. That will be OMG!!

Length Check 2

I was so excited about my length check shirt that I decided to do a length check on Sunday...(started writing this post 2 days ago). I had begun my prepoo on Friday and washed my hair on Saturday. I applied Vitale Mayonnaise before applying my oil mix and left it in overnight.

My hair felt soft and silky smooth afterwards. Though Vitale mayonnaise has protein in it, it really makes my hair soft and smooth after rinsing it out. I scolded myself a bit for having left it to the background for a while. It is one of the products I will definitely buy again. I did a tea rinse infused with rosemary for the first time. I forgot to strain the solution and by the time I was done, my bathroom drain was clogged. Thank goodness I placed a drain cover on it some months ago after it got totally clogged with hair some months ago. I simply removed the cover and emptied it of the hair and rosemary leaves...... I'd try to remember to strain it next time.

I did a faux bun style for church and couldn't wait to let my hair down to see how much progress I have made since my trims. I am currently 10 weeks post relaxer aiming for 12-16 weeks though I may relax any day from now if I think I would be better off relaxing than waiting.

I am still struggling with mid-section tangles. I am trying to figure out if it is to be blamed totally on the texlaxed middle. It tangles again within hours of detangling so I am still just wearing my wigs so I do not need to comb except on wash days!! When I apply creme of nature argan oil leave in and hawaiian silky  14-in-1 moisturiser, I detangle more easily but within hours, if left loose, it tangles again. I just don't know what to do!! Maybe my hair just wants to stay in protective styles.

I love my progress so far. My ends are not as thin as before and I may be able to get away without trimming too much if I do well to keep the ends well protected and reduce breakage to the barest minimum. I still see that see-through 2 inches or so but it doesn't look as terrible as before. Probably means my hair is really growing faster and the shorter healthier ones are getting closer to the longer ones. I do like the threaded hair underneath my wig and I do wash, moisturise and seal anyways in it so all things being equal, I hope to get through the next 2 weeks at least without the challenge of detangling everyday.

I have also decided to do the green house effect overnight every other day this week and I will skip my mid-week wash and see how my hair reacts. I will only wash my hair again at the end of the week. I hope my hair doesn't disapprove.
