Wash Day: Soft and Beautiful

Here again lovelies to update you on my wash at the weekend.

The excitement I get from a great wash day lingers on for days and makes me look forward eagerly to the next wash day! How did it all go on Saturday?

1. Prepooed for about 6 hours with coconut oil and honey after detangling thoroughly. I applied the honey and oil mix to my scalp and massaged for a few minutes before applying over the rest of my hair.

2. Shampooed with Diva by Cindy stimulating shampoo (just love that soothing cool effect on my scalp).

3. Conditioned with Diva by Cindy stimulating conditioner (that tingles too.....love love ).

4. Soaked up excess water with t-shirt after rinsing out and applied Diva by Cindy ultimate hair treatment which I covered with a plastic bag and left in for about 30 mins.

5. Wrapped t-shirt around head to soak up water after final rinse. Once it was not dripping anymore, left it to dry about 70%, then applied Hawaiian silky herbal leave in.

6. Once 100% dry, I applied Diva by Cindy hair gro and T444Z to my edges.

7. I applied Afroriri hair butter and Afroriri hair and scalp conditioner to hair and styled  in a simple bun with a comb band (I hope that's what it's called) after finger detangling thoroughly, and then detangling with a wide tooth comb.

I do not comb my hair till it is 100% dry now. I realised my wet hair detests combs or finger detangling so I stopped wet detangling months ago..even soaked with conditioner. And the exciting news is that last week, I saw the smallest ball of hair I have seen in a long time.

The softness and shine of my hair is really amazing and I have far less tangles mid week. I have a harder time keeping my hands out of my hair because I love that "omg" feeling each time I run my hands through my roots. I don't struggle to put a comb through my hair like before. And I can do braid styles more easily now without fear of breaking my strands. That's the power great products hold over me especially when they are new in my stash. I just can't wait to have that amazing experience again and again and over and over again with the same "WOW"effect.

I've definitely been feeling more and more like a Diva as the days go by. I've run out of Groganics shampoo and conditioner and will buy new bottles definitely...though my excessive shedding has stopped ......but I also want to see how much growth I get with this Diva by Cindy stimulating set.

What range of products are you loving most right now?

Cheers,
Star.

New Protective Style: Jumbo Box Braids

It's been ages!!

Hi lovelies,

My hair has been in big box braids for the past 5 weeks. I have kept my haircare regimen very simple. I simply massage with T444Z food twice a week, spray roots with Groganics braid spray every few days and the braid length with Dark&Lovely braids and weaves braid spray. I massage once in a while with my jbco and oil mix.

New growth after 2 weeks

I had so much new growth after just 2 weeks as pictured above and so much now. You should see my new growth now. Posted to @ghlonghair Instagram page. I am done with my 4th bottle of Groganics vitamins; two months and just started with manetabolism vitamins 2 days ago.I have so much growth , it's unbelievable. I am looking forward to a great detangling session when I take my braids out next week.

I've washed my hair twice in braids and looks really good still.

Forgive me for the late post. I'm on holidays from work and getting on my pc sometimes sends me back working ..that's why you haven't heard from me in a long while. I will be back in full force after the Easter Holidays.

Happy EASTER everyone....

What was your latest protective style?

Hair Challenges I've Joined So Far

Hello lovelies,

Besides the Pamper Your Hair Challenge I am hosting myself, there are so many hair growth challenges out there and being totally all for long, long, and thick, thick hair by the end of this year, I have joined 3......and 1 more. The 3 are kind of major and the last 1, I deem minor because it is easy.

Let's see:

Let's Grow Our Hair Challenge: This is co-hosted by some of my favourite bloggers and I'm in as there will be mini challenges each month to keep participants in check. I really want to dedicate my time to my hair much more this year.

Growth Challenge 2015 by Phro Group: This is hosted by Phrophro. It is also aimed at hair growth but it is at different levels based on how you want to wear your hair the whole year. I'm doing the Rested Growth Routine. I am challenging myself to keep in my protective styles for 6-8 weeks at a time and I found it perfectly in line with my own hair plans.

Castor Oil Challenge by Sunshyne: I've decided to try Jamaican Black Castor Oil as a growth aid again. I will be using the Jamaican Mango and Lime brand and hope it works for me. I tried JBCO 2 years ago for growth and didn't see much so I only used it to seal in moisture. Will massage onto my scalp 3 times a week and hope to see results. This time, I will go through the 3 month period the challenge will last. It ends in April. It is hosted by Sunshyne.

Ms Direction Healthy Hair Challenge:  Healthy hair care practices is the focus of this challenge. I deem it a great challenge to because if hair grows fast and breaks fast as well, there will be little to no progress. Having reminders to pay attention to retention is also key. Hosted by Miranisa.

The last one is The Mane Challenge which is simply using Manetabolism Healthy Hair Vitamins which I would begin in May. I just started taking Groganics Vitamins as I don't want my body to get used to the Manetabolism Vitamins....

I will keep up with all the mini challenges the best I can...I aim to get no less than 4 inches more by June, 2015.

Which hair challenges are you in?

Cheers,
Star.

New Protective Style: Short Weave

Hey hairmily,

I just realised I did not update you on my current hairstyle. My hair has been in a weave for the past weeks and I am keeping a pretty simple regimen that saves time and will allow me to rest during the holidays.

2015 hair goals

I just wash once a week, or when needed. I dilute my products before use. I apply my moisturising mix and oil mix to the tracks where my hair is as best as I can using an old dark and lovely anti-itch applicator bottle . I found the bottle very useful so I just decided to keep it after I used up the product in it.

I am making plans for 2015. I have written down a lot but I am reviewing what I have written down and will put up a final list before the year ends. I do not want to make plans I might not work at achieving. Even if I end up having only one goal, I would put it up.

I am just feeling bored right now but I do need a lot of rest and would just have to keep my hair in this weave. I have no plans of taking them out though they look and feel terrible now after a beach day out and a swim. I had enough sand in my hair to fill a small cup by the time I got home. I spent more than 30 minutes washing it out yesterday...and I still have some sand in it. Will wash on Wednesday because I have plans of swimming tomorrow...but in a pool this time.

Counting the days.................seriously.

What hairstyle will you wear this Christmas?

Cheers,
Star.

How I'll Retain My Length

Our biggest issue especially for those of us with relaxed hair is how to minimise breakage and prevent split ends. Now, if there is one lesson I have learnt the hard way, it is to keep my hair, especially the ends well hidden after moisturising and sealing.

Once we get past shoulder length, we desire to show off a little. Just a little. And when the "is that your hair?" question keeps coming, we keep showing off and showing off. Maybe you don't do that, but I am so guilty of that......geeeeeez! I'm better now though...healing.

I am currently 9 weeks post and struggling with breakage. I had a weave in for 6 weeks, and now have cornrows. My hair needs more loving especially with protein. I need to retain length and these are some things I need to work on:

1. Protein-Moisture Balance: I need to get my hair balanced right away! Too much moisture leaves the hair limp and mushy, and in effect weak and prone to breakage. Too much protein also leaves the hair hard and brittle, and also prone to breakage. Until there is a fine balance between the two, hair is in trouble. Protein strengthens the hair and moisture retains elasticity of the hair. Too much of either is bad. I have to remember to do my hard protein treatments every month and do mild protein treatments weekly.

Test: Stretch freshly washed hair gently. If it snaps too quickly, your hair needs moisture. If it stretches for too long before snapping, your hair needs protein. If it is balanced, it will snap but not too quickly or stretch but not too long before it snaps.

2. Low Manipulation and Protective Styling : This one, I have to work real good on. I have to comb my hair less within the week and keep my ends tucked away when my hair is free. For now, I'm gonna just stay away from combing. I have a roots only applicator bottle and my gosh! I've used it for some weeks now and I am so pleased with myself for buying it! I just poured in my oils and just got to work with it. No need to part hair into sections and all that.

3. Stretch Stretch Stretch my Relaxer!! Since the beginning of the year, I have failed terribly at stretching. Terribly! I haven't gone up to 8 weeks this whole year which is a big shame. Though I ensure I do not overlap my already relaxed hair or over process the relaxer, it may still have affected my strands and they may be weaker than before. Surely, I will go beyond 12 weeks this time for sure. That's my new resolve. I have to work it out somehow.

4.  Trim my Ends: This may sound counter productive but I just realised my split ends may have travelled up my hair shaft over the past months I didn't trim. So moving forward, I will snip off a little bit on my ends after every relaxer. That should keep the thin looking ends at bay. My texlaxed middle makes my ends look so miserable. If only I had the courage to just cut them all off.

This is my "big"plan for the rest of the year. I'll take my Manetabolism Pills religiously; and these pills are really amazing. My hair is growing like weeds.......super satisfied! I will also henceforth do scalp massages at least 3 times a week with my new D.I.Y oil growth potion (every growth aid I have is in there! Will tell you about that soon) and draw up a hair regimen which I would share in another post once I'm done. My edges are also growing back nicely. I don't want a huge setback to mark the celebration on my 2 year anniversary.

How do you prevent hair breakage?

Cheers,
Star.

New Protective Style: Full Head Weave

So what's been up with my hair? It's all tucked away...*feeling pleased with myself*. I am almost 3 weeks post relaxer. I relaxed at 4 weeks post...more like a corrective relaxer because my roots reverted so much I just didn't know what to do anymore. I will give details in my next post.

Right after the meetup, I decided it was time to try out the Dark and Lovely Braids and Weaves SOS Hairline range of products I got from their office for free 2 weeks ago, to use and review. I fell completely in love with the packaging of the products especially the roots applicator bottles in which most of them came in. They gave me two each of the products pictured below. I really couldn't wait to use these as I liked the ingredients in the list...at least those I know.

dark and lovely braids and weavesDark and Lovely Braids and Weaves SOS Hairline

My regular hairdresser had travelled so I got this weave with a new one, but I liked her too because she was so gentle with the braids. She didn't pull tight at all and I even braided my edges...as there is a product that promises your edges will stay intact even if you weave it.

protective styles weaves

I asked how she was going to braid and sew the tracks so I could have access to my scalp. She proposed the circular way. She added extensions to only the first 5 rows. From the 5th to the crown, she didn't add any as she said it wasn't necessary. In fact, I dozed off along the way...first time ever....and she was almost done by the time I woke. After taking this shot, I realised and then discussed how difficult it would be for me to access my scalp if the weave was sewn in a U-part way as shown below as the front part was sewn across the cornrows. However, it was quite late and I was too tired to have it done all over again. We agreed that next time, the part in front should be braided across so that the tracks be sewed along the cornrows. I think that is possible and we will try that next time.

cornrows for weavesprotective styles weaves

I made a huge mistake when I got the weave installed. I got home late that day and went to the salon after 6pm. I just grabbed the extensions and went to the salon. The extensions were in their packs but I bought them over 6 months ago so I really should have washed them and then rinsed with ACV solution. My scalp itched like crazy for the first 3 days even though I applied the Anti-Itch Scalp Soother all through twice a day. I was scratching like crazy and screaming...asking my sisters to take it off. I had to wash my hair by the third night. After washing and drying, I applied the Anti-Itch Scalp Soother and praise my soul it comes in an applicator bottle so applying is really, really easy. Today is the 3rd day since I washed but my scalp still itches. Not as crazily as before though. I still apply to my scalp 2 times a day and apply the SOS hairline to the hairline area as well.

I'm looking forward to the itch stopping completely because I really would not have time to undo this weave till after 2 weeks as I will be away from home the next 2 weekends. I will continue using the Scalp Soother and SOS Hairline from the range till these weaves come off. I may not need to use the other two for now. I will wash my hair tomorrow and every 3 days as usual.  I totally think that either the weave is irritating my scalp as it's a synthetic weave, or the hairdresser though gentle, has "bad"hands for my scalp. However, I need this Scalp soother to soothe my scalp real soon and for the SOS Hairline to keep my hairline intact.

What do you do to relieve an itchy scalp after installing a weave?

Back To My Wigs

I''m so bent on reaching my bra strap length goal by December this year. I really do not want to have any setback at all, and I especially don't want to loose my ends at all. I want to trim it myself when I flatiron in August.

I am back to a low or no manipulation regimen and the easiest one is to thread my hair and wear my wigs. Found this old wig I had and just restyled it with a brush. It isn't bad looking and I'm looking forward to rocking it for at least 3 weeks. I am going to kill my boredom this time.....keep looking at the greater good keeping my hair away will do for me.

The key really to growing out relaxed hair long is to keep manipulation to the barest minimum. At least for me, that is the huge factor that really makes or breaks me. If I leave my hair loose for just 2 or 3 weeks, I experience a lot of breakage. That's mostly because I just can't keep my hands out of my hair, and once the new growth starts coming in, there is that war between the textures. I style it this way, and that way, and then another way and then......geeeeeeeeeeeez, give this hair a break.....lol!!

In the next few weeks, I would try my hardest to answer the reader questions I've had in detail. I'm really grateful that you keep reading my blog and giving me feedback. You're awesome!! I really hope my blog inspires you out there and if there is something I could do to make you enjoy this blog better, kindly leave it in the comment box below. I do give lots of tips on my facebook page everyday on how to grow hair long and try not to lecture here on this blog....*covers face*. But if there's anything you would like me to write about in detail here, kindly let me know.

Let's cut the talk and see some pictures........Tadaaaaaaaaaaa!! This is my look for the next few weeks.  *huuuuuuuuuuuuuge grin*

New Protective Style: Cornrows

protective style cornrowsprotective style cornrows

protective style cornrows

I got cornrows as planned last Saturday and hope to keep them in for at least 3 weeks. I want to use my heat pass at the end of July to flatiron and do a mid year length check as I have some texlaxed length. I hope to stretch till the end of July. I am currently 7 weeks post. Keeping my hair in braids has really helped me stretch this far. I deep conditioned with Vitale Mayonnaise mixed with Vatika Almond oil which I had purchased sometime back. I sat under the dryer for deeper absorption of the conditioner and I loved how my ends felt after rollersetting and hood drying. Totally frizz-free and amazing to see and touch! It took a lot of will to install the cornrows as planned.

I am still on a challenge to use up my stash before I buy new items....I definitely failed this month as I purchased some Groganics products. It had been on my wishlist for so long I just couldn't help it. I am joining a "Use up Your Stash" challenge hosted by fellow blogger Ghanaianemprezz to see if it helps keep me in check. I'm challenging myself to use up 3 products before I purchase 1 product....and even so, only if I really need. Ultimately, I hope to reduce my stash to 10 products, excluding oils by the end of the year as I have a ton of used and unused products. My sister will be back on holidays soon and I know my stash will get used up much quicker as it's her long vacation of 3 months. My littlest sister also just completed high school and intends to grow her natural hair. She has just abt 2 inches of hair now. Will send her some stuff too. I really dunno how I accumulated so many products within a year. I have really been careful not to purchase anything since last September...unless I really, really, really needed them. I will do a post on what I have now and update you on my "Use up Your Stash" progress every month.

I will keep my cornrows the same way as I have always done. Wash and deep condition whenever I feel like and spray with my homemade mix or Groganics Liquid Scratch. I intend to use the Liquid scratch for ghe at least 3 times a week. I've been lazy with massaging my scalp with T444Z lately. I would have to get a new phone (I'm just so unlucky with fons; always cracking the screen up or sthg...lol) or repair my camera real soon as blogging is boring without having the "show and tell" pictures.

What is the longest period you have kept a protective style in?

Star.

Hair Update: 4 Weeks Post

Surprised? Time really flies!

I am 4 weeks post now and just trying hard to forget about my hair. I've had these loc extensions for 2 weeks but I am mighty bored already. I was hoping I could keep these in for at least 6 weeks but I'm not too sure now.

I'm trying my best to keep my hair moisturised with the ghe method and I spray with my moisturising mix everyday. I have washed my extensions thrice so far and will wash again tomorrow. I had wanted to wash every 2 weeks but I find that my scalp begins to itch about 4 days after I have washed.

After a long break, I'm back on multivitamin tablets. I wanted to buy Pregnacare but my pharmacist recommended Prowoman instead as I weaned my son. I will take it religiously and see how it helps with my shedding. I'm not particularly fond of pills except when pregnant or breastfeeding but the last thing I want is to lose my hair to a point where I have to cut it all off. If these pills would help until my post-partum shedding stops, I would be too happy!

Cheers,
Star.

New Protective Style: Loc Extensions

armpit length relaxed hairI just figured my post-partum shedding woes may no end so soon so the best thing to do was to keep my hair  in a long term protective style; hidden away from my ever-manipulating hands. I decided to get yarn locs.

Once at the salon, the thread was cut and parted ready for installation. At the last minute, I changed my mind and asked if any other extension could be used for the locs apart from the yarn. You should have seen how my face lighted up when she said "Yes". I remembered how I had 3 consecutive sleepless nights the first time I tried the yarn locs and just didn't want that again. So, I agreed to pay for the yarn because it had been shred already. That cost 6ghs but I didnt mind because she installed yarn braids for my daughter when I had to travel and upon undoing it, I realised my daughter didn't lose much hair. So, this hairdresser is really for keeps. Double-packed. Now she can install long term braids for my daughter too which would really help me as hair wash days are marathons. My daughter is 3 years old now. She loves it when I wash her hair, but getting it in plaits is a different story. I only work with her hair wet and after deep conditioning. It is super soft always but she just likes it when I have to chase her around to get her hair done.  My weekends are very busy now. Besides, Lucy....my hairdresser told me she was such a good girl. I believe because my daughter kept asking when I got her braids undone if we were going to the salon....lol!

kid's afro haircareblack girl with long hairblack girl with long hair

2 pack of Darling mesh (as we call it ) were used to install my locs. I simply looooooooooooooved it!! Painless, simple, beautiful, so much accessibility to my scalp. I got home rather late, after 10 pm as she did the installation alone. She had apprentices but they were yet to master the skill so she just let them watch. It took about 8 hours from start to finish. My hair is pretty long and the method used it threading. The locs were pretty long, but as she completed one loc in the front, I was quick to notice my hair was longer than the place where she ended it. She had to unravel a few and thread it a few inches more.

 yarn loc extensions

I am hopeful that most of my hair was all threaded up because the ends were burnt so if I had hair beyond her knots, they are dead news now. Well, I do have a big trim to do in July so I'm not too bothered. I don't like the thin ends too much though it is hardly noticeable as I don't wear my hair down. This style cost 11ghs for the Darling, 30ghs for the service...41ghs (15usd) in all . I really hope to keep this in for at least 6 weeks.

How do you keep your braids in for more than 4 weeks? I just get bored after 3 weeks. Help!

Cheers,
Star!

Cornrows Out...and In Again!

Been so busy lately I haven't had time to pop in here! Hope everyone is doing great and I really miss y'all. Thanks for your patience and your continuous visit to my blog. Just a quick picture story of how my hair is doing. I carried some hair products in small syrup bottles along with me to Nigeria where I have been for the past 2 weeks; not knowing when I go back home yet...thanks to the job. I feel a little homesick, miss my family especially my kids. This place is like a second home courtesy of my job and several visits here.....yep, but there is no place like home.

I still washed my last cornrows 2 times a week and after more than 2 weeks, I just had to undo it. I was far East in Onitsha and I went to this hairdresser I got box braids for once in the past with a pix of the cornrow updo above and wanted the same thing done.

From the word "Go", I knew I was in for a surprising end I won't be pleased about. Hhahhahahhaahaha......I tried helping out as many times with directions but my lady just wasn't getting it. I decided at a point to just let her use her creativity as she said the style was "Galaxy" and she had done it before. It is so easy to spot the differences, right? Just a complete case of North and South with me endig up looking like Mr T!! (Remember that TV series......*my sides hurt from mad laughter each time I see these pixs!)

Oya, let's try another "packing" style jare. She agreed and together we did the one above. I was more comfy with leaving the salon and went straight to the office where I was working for the day. She didn't have a mirror for me to look at my back and from the pixs I took at the salon, I had no clue that the hair was sewn together with BLUE thread...........*wide-eyed*! I can't believe I had walked about with that for close to 4 hours!

That was it. I unpacked my thing, decided not to be peeved about it anymore and I have since been enjoying my "cool" style. I still moisturise with water and oil. I forgot my braid spray and moisturiser. I wash it every 3 days as well. A few of the individual braids removed and I had to redo them. I just don't know. I'm back in Lagos where I'm sure it can be done right but I will just keep these in somehow till I get back home and go and get my "Ghana weaving" done at my hairdressers'.

Oh, she charged 1800 naira when she was done. I just bargained and paid 1000 naira which included the cost of the extension she used which was 400 naira. That's about 6 dollars.  According to my friend's it was way too much....lol. I remember paying 1200 for the braids she did for me over a year and half ago because I liked them. I was just too disappointed to tip her for this one.

Have you had an experience like this before?

Cheers,
Star.

New Protective Style: Cornrows!

I know, I know ....I said no more braids but this time, I really had to get braids. I will be away from home for a month and do not want to carry my hair troubles along so I decided to install cornrows so my wash days will be easier. Will be more like wash-and-gos...I'll just wash, put in my products and then go.

I was so glad I decided to trust this hairdresser. I went to her shop last Saturday to get cornrows. Initially we had discussed using my hair only but I decided at the last minute to add extensions as per reasons given above. We used half pack of extensions. I am just too pleased with my cornrows. Very simple, pretty and neat. Totally painless; no headaches and sleepless nights. There was no need for neatening with scissors, fire or hot water as is usually done here in the salons. Within 2 hours she was done. And believe me, we had a lot of breaks as her salon was quite busy that day. The cost of the installation was only 10ghs. That's less than 5 dollars. The extension was 5ghs a pack.

how
Braids after 2 washes.

As usual, I washed my hair just as always. I have done 2 washes already. I prepooed with Coconut oil and Wonder 8 oil. I used my onion-infused Creme of Nature conditioning shampoo first and then followed with Aphogee Shampoo and Aphogee 2 min reconstructor. I then let it dry 80%, applied T444Z Hair food to my scalp and then Creme of Nature Argan oil leave in. I then moisturised with ORS Moisturiser and then sealed with a mix of Wonder 8 oil, coconut oil and gbco. I did this on both wash days.

On the other days I didn't wash, I applied a mix I made of t444z, gbco, chapter 2000, virgin hair fertilizer, coconut and peppermint oil. I've had the chapter 2000 and virgin fertilizer for a long while now and decided to just mix it up and use instead of throwing it away as I initially intended. I was expecting the "concoction"to be super hot and tingly, but to my surprise I only felt a mild tingling the first day and nothing at all consequently. I will continue using it till it's used up. I also have African Pride braid spray and I spray this on my hair in the evenings, wear my shower cap and go to bed. I have been doing the green house effect each night since Saturday.

My braids are just 6 days old but I do feel new growth already. I will continue to use the above regimen for a month and see how it goes. I may however cut ghe down....will do it 2 days in a row and skip the 3rd day in that order. My new growth feels super soft!!

I hope to keep writing while away ..........and I am thinking of embarking on a weight loss and skin care journey too.

How often do you wash your hair in braids?

Hairstyles of the Week

I have simply been enjoying my hair and had such a huge rush of creativity the whole week. I must say though some of the styles look a bit difficult to achieve, they were easy once I got to doing them. I used between 5 - 10 minutes to achieve these styles. I also used only wide tooth combs to comb.

Sectioned into 3. Braided the front down, put the middle in a ponytail and sectioned into 3 and pinned then into bows.
Combed the back down, braided the very end and tied with a small ribbon to keep it from being loose.

I just love how moisturised and much healthier my ends look. What I have been doing apart from washing 2 times is to ghe with cantu sheabutter. I did this all week and my hair simply loves it!! I will continue to apply  cantu sheabutter to my ends overnight at least 3 times a week.

Hair Update: 12 Weeks Post

I know it's been a while. Have been a little busy with work.

Altogether, I am happy I have stretched my relaxer this far but I am just keeping my fingers crossed and waiting eagerly for relaxer day. I have 2 inches of new growth; judging with my eyes, which is 16 weeks worth of new growth. I am 12 weeks post. I used to be able to stretch 6 months at a time but my new growth is coming up much more thicker and stronger than ever before. It's completely amazing I can't be annoyed though detangling is not an easy task!

I haven't posted any hair pixs lately because there is pretty much nothing new. Tis just same old hair in large braids or threaded up in 3 or 4 sections hiding under my wigs. I am loving the wig regimen so much as it affords me the much needed happy-go-lucky hhj!

No stress after wash day with styling issues. I just detangle and airdry, moisturise and seal and plait it again.

No stress after green house effect; wet or dry, I just slap on my wig cap and wig and off I go.

No stress when it's time to attending a special occassion. My good old wig is what I wear to the function.

No need to detangle with a comb everyday. My fingers do it all. That should save me a lot of breakage.

No need to lose sleep preparing my hair for the next day.

No stress with hair whether it is silky smooth or not.

No need for heat whatsover.

No need to wrap at night.

No need, no need, no need.................pretty much for anything complicated.

Wigs make my life so simple it's amazing!!

For now, that's my boring regimen. It's just me and some good old wigs!

Have you ever tried a wig regimen?

All Threaded and Tucked Away

Been a while folks!! Missed ya too.

I have been trying hard to manipulate my hair less each week and since I have still no intention of letting anyone do my hair for now; no braids or cornrows even with my own hair, I decided to thread it up. That is the only option I could figure out that could give me room to wash and care for my hair as well without combing it at all.

So as I was preparing to wash my hair on Saturday, sectioning and oiling for my prepoo, it suddenly occurred to me to just thread the sections up. Within minutes, I was done. Quick, easy and painless. My grin was as wide as the ocean.....honestly. I really felt good about my new hairstyle. Like an African princess!! It reminded me of those days when my mum used to thread my hair up for school.... hahhaahaaaahha!!

I loved it so much that I walked around the neighborhood in it. And then I went shopping about 10 minutes away and was asked by 2 young ladies if my hair was natural. I said, "It's relaxed but natural"..........*wide-smile*.

On my way back home, I spotted a cosmetic shop that had a lot of wigs in the showcase and decided to pop in. I had intentions of stocking up on some more wigs as I will braid less this year. I tried out a lot of wigs but the only one that could tame my horns underneath without extra work was this afro wig. Yeah....I just loved it when I tried it on and just didn't think twice about buying it. Besides, it was very cheap. Just 40ghs ($ 18).

I do know that big hair is the in-thing now but I still love this afro wig right here. And I intend to wear it 2 weeks at a time before switching to the other wig I have. Hhehheheehehe ......my colleagues said I look 16......hhahaahahahhahahhahahhah!! I do want to look 16 ...they better not be teasing oooooooo.... :)
